Spider-Man 3: Tom Holland speaks out on ‘INSANE’ movie and teases MCU future

Spider-Man’s inclusion in Disney’s MCU is a complicated one. The rights to the superhero’s depiction on screen is owned by Sony, so they still produce his solo movies set in the shared universe, but he can also appear in movies made by Disney. Following Avengers Endgame last year Tom Holland starred in Spider-Man Far From Home, but then the news hit his Peter Parker was leaving the MCU.

The 23-year-old has been promoting Pixar movie Onward and told Inquirer.Net that his new Spidey solo movie’s storyline is “absolutely insane.”

It’s certainly not surprising considering where we last left Peter in the mid-credits scene for Spider-Man Far From Home.

The Web-Slinger was framed for murdering Mysterio and had his true identity revealed to the world.

No doubt he will spend Spider-Man 3 on the run.

But with Sony’s trailers and set photos for Morbius and Venom 2 alluding to this, perhaps a crossover is on the cards?

Holland also revealed that he’s “super happy” about the new movie and shooting begins this July in Atlanta.

Although it’s possible this could be postponed if the coronavirus pandemic continues into the summer.

Holland also added: “As for me showing up in other Marvel movies, I’m not sure as to what they want me to do.”

He may be unsure specifically what Kevin Feige and the story team at Disney’s Marvel Studios are planning or keeping spoilers to himself.

Nevertheless, he is set to make at least one Disney MCU movie appearance aside from Sony’s Spider-Man 3.

The Avengers Endgame sequel has no release date yet.

However, it’s certainly possible Spider-Man could be a key player now that the likes of Iron Man and Captain America are gone.
